1. Promote digestion and absorption of lipids
Bile acid contains both hydrophilic hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, as well as hydrophobic methyl and hydrocarbon cores. 2.Inhibit the precipitation of cholesterol in the bile (calculus)
Bile acid also prevents gallstone formation. Cholesterol is difficult to dissolve in water.
