Rotundine powder, an analgesi, has been entrapped in a PIC polysaccharide granule. It was prepared in a two-step process, i.e., first granulation of a chitosan acetated solution containing Rotundine and then complexation of the polycationic component on the granular surface with a polyanionic solution of carboxymethyl glucomannan (CMGM). 

Analgesia, sedation, spasmodic and tranquilizing effect.  In clinical use for the treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcer, pain, neuropathic pain, menstrual pain, tension insomnia, spasmodic cough and other diseases.  Used in traditional Chinese medicine: clearing heat and detoxifying, dispersing silt and relieving pain, hypnotic sedation, stomach.  The main treatment is respiratory tract infection, pharyngitis, stomachache, acute gastroenteritis, bacterial dysentery, malaria, rheumatic pain, trauma pain;  Bruises, tongue bites and sores.
